Dr. Wyatt Case is never happier than when he’s walking the halls of his history museum. Playing wingman for his best friend at Gravedigger’s Tavern throws him way out of his comfort zone, but not as much as the eccentric man behind the bar, Ash Lucroix.

Ash is everything Wyatt doesn’t understand exuberant, quirky, and elbow deep in a Gaslight lifestyle that weaves history into everyday life. He coordinates his suspenders with his tongue rings. Within hours, Wyatt and Ash are hooked.

But strange things are afoot at Gravedigger’s, and after a knock to the head, Ash starts seeing things that can’t be explained by old appliances or faulty wiring. Soon everyone at Gravedigger’s is wondering if they’re seeing ghosts, or just going crazy. The answer to that question could end more than just Wyatt and Ash’s fragile relationship—it might also end their lives.

The Gravedigger Brawl edition by Abigail Roux Paranormal Romance eBooks

Loved this book! For most of the story, it was a very sweet romance between a shy museum curator and a gaslight/Victorian era-loving bartender. There is supposedly a ghost haunting the bar, but they always seem to find a logical explanation for the strange occurrences, so I thought it was going to be heavy on romance, light on paranormal. And I was okay with that, because the characters are likable, funny, and endearing.
But at the end, it takes a turn into full-on spookiness. There is definitely a ghost, and it made the book a five-star winner hands down.
No matter what you read it for, M/M romance or haunting/paranormal, it's well worth it.

The Gravedigger Brawl edition by Abigail Roux Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

This supernatural MM romance is an entertaining read, with some pretty creepy scenes. Some historical background behind the spooks also makes it more interesting. I also like the idea of 2 MM couples but here lies my problem with this story. I could not helped but compared these two MM couples with the other two couples whom I absolutely adored in According to Hoyle. The 4 guys characters in According to Hoyle are so amazingly developed that the 4 guys in The Gravedigger's Brawl just paled in comparison. Maybe it is an unfair comparison because plotwise is completely different. On the other hand they are written by the same writer and I have to say According to Hoyle just comes out on top, both characters and their romance wise.
Still the Gravedigger's Brawl keeps me entertained.
I've read most of Roux's other works and was, therefore, quite prepared for the style that I generally associate with her writing. Simple plot-lines that I can usually pick very early on but stunning characterisation that really gives the plot a depth and makes it a good read.

The Gravedigger's Brawl was in some ways a disappointment because for one it was too short. I think it was barely over a hundred pages which, you know, allowed me to finish it within a few hours, and didn't give me enough time to really enjoy the setting and characters that Roux had created. All the characters have quite complicated personalities and backstories but they're not as well explored as they could have been. And even though I expected the simple plot-line, I was not prepared for the poorly executed and major flaws of this plot-line. It really disappointed me when in the end of the story things still didn't add up.

But, I have to say, for all that I really did enjoy it because I really liked the characters, except for perhaps the protagonist; he seemed weak and an easy scapegoat to create more drama and tension in the story. Unnecessarily making Wyatt Case an inconsistent character, and not in a good way.

I really enjoyed the Gaslight theme though, and I loved reading about a culture that is completely foreign and yet strangely similar to my own.

Overall, it was a good, easy read, but I definitely think Roux could have done much better, and has in fact.
Wyatt lives a quiet life working for a museum, but he's dragged off to the old town district to the quirky Gravedigger's Tavern by a friend. There, he meets one of the bar's performing bartenders, Ash, with his variety of tongue-piercing jewelry. It's an unusual match, but it just gets stranger as Halloween approaches and Wyatt arranges for a Haunting exhibit at the museum and it seems as if there just might be some actual haunting going on at the Tavern, just in time for their annual Gravedigger's Brawl party.

Despite the colorful characters and equally fascinating bar and environs, this tale never really hit the sweet spot for me. For some reason, I felt a disconnect between the characters, the plot and my engagement in them. Nothing was glaringly wrong--I really felt I should have just liked all terrific these elements more than I did.

However, the writing was more than competent, the characters and setting were intriguing, and if you like a bit of paranormal mixed in, and some suspense, danger and mystery, you really can't go wrong here.

There is supposedly a ghost haunting the bar, but they always seem to find a logical explanation for the strange occurrences, so I thought it was going to be heavy on romance, light on paranormal.
